wordplay

i think a lot about what words mean, why they mean what they do, and how silly a majority of them are. We have this thing in culture where if you hear something enough times you understand the meaning, but don’t stop and think about what you just said.

How many times have you sat and though about “goodbye”? why is it good? turns out it’s a mixture of words that you’ll just have to look up if you care to.

new years day (observed)

i’m not embellishing the smug and disgusted face the man working at the supermarket gave me when i asked this.
he was genuinely offended!.. presumably because i had a job that wasn’t so sad it had to make up a fake government-sponsored holiday because the real one fell on a sunday (and we can’t have that!).

so with that reasoning i’m gonna declare my personal observation of new years day some time in march for no reason. maybe around the 21st. hmm. oh wait that’s right that’s revenge day. ahh hell lets do them both! better yet, everyday is “new years day (observed)” did you know i was born on new years day(observed)? really? you too!?
